Lifelong Leaner // B.S. Behavioral Neuroscience // B.A. Psychology

One of my aims in life is understanding the human mind. Psychiatry offers a unique insight to human life, exploring both the material and metaphysical. Yin and yang.

It is a much more important question to ask yourself, "who" you want to be rather than "what".

More than a physician, I want to become a space of warmth and safety where others cared and regarded for. I aspire to become, and be surrounded by, reminders of the kindness and beauty of life, which the world constantly has circulating within it.

Why Mysore?

it's birthplace of ashtanga yoga! the  city of Mysore is the perfect place to train yoga, a practice which has helped me grow and evolve through many difficult times!!

it has been a grounding practice in my life to strengthen my mind-body connection. and, in recent times, i have not practiced as much as i used to. what better place to pick up ashtanga again?

Why study abroad (again)?

after my last study abroad experience, I realized the daily obstacles third world countries face. and still, they remained kind and welcoming.

It was humbling to see how much we take for granted in America, and how extending our hands and resources to every population we can reach will make steps in a brighter direction for future generations.

Research Topic while Abroad?

while at Mysore (besides studying ashtanga), I seek to learn about one of India’s ancient, indigenous system of healing: Ayurveda.

I will arrange to meet with ayurvedic practitioners, especially ayurvedic psychiatrists to learn their approach to mental health, and how it influences their practice. I hope to interview them, and learn how their medical system works in Mysore, and to learn what possible barriers to treatment they face in their country.
